The
Creativity Workshop really changed my life. Freed my imagination. I saw
my classmates come alive, too. When a fellow participant said to me: "For
the first time in a long time I feel joy," I knew it wasn't just
me who had been transformed. It was a magical experience. One that will
stay with me forever. Rondi Aastrup, Principal, Greater Boston
Academy, Stoneham, MA
During
the course of the workshop, I felt my creative-self come out of hibernation. I left each day having written things that I didn’t know were inside
of me to write I wanted to take this creative journey because creativity
is a skill that is valued in all aspects of society, but we often don’t
know how to fully tap into it and maximize it for ourselves and our students. Cherise Ayers, Fund For Teachers. English
Teacher, Maynard Jackson High School. Atlanta, GA
The
workshop activities stimulated perception, curiosity, and inspiration in the world around me. The workshop activities have become a source
of ideas as I plan curriculum units for the coming year. Over and over
again, during the workshop, I was pushed to overcome my inner critic
and express ideas through writing, drawing, and free association. The
workshop pushed me to become more comfortable with spontaneity - an invaluable
tool for an educator, especially one that works with emotionally and
behaviorally challenged students in a school where classroom dynamics
shift moment to moment. Since completing the workshop I have felt more
confident with my inner voice - a voice that guides me daily in the classroom
as I strive to present complex historical concepts to a challenging student
body. Noah Kaufman, History Teacher, Fund for Teachers
Fellow, Boston Public Schools.
In
the Creativity Workshop, I found a place to dream, to question, to

are invaluable assets to the University of Iowa. Evan Mazunik, Student, University of Iowa
Each
activity in the Creativity Workshop demonstrated that there are multiple

some of your activities. Noel Powell, Head of Unite Program at
the School of Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal,Durban, South

The
Florence Creativity Workshop taught me the value of sharing my ideas
and work with others. The observation exercises had me noticing all sorts
of new things. In the past my rolls of film might have been filled with
the typical pictures of the Duomo. The Workshop changed all that. Now
I've captured on film, or in writing, or simply in my memory, images

cotta terrace, the contrast of a freshly fallen lemon on a bed of grass. Heidi Lang, Teacher, Falls Church City Public Schools, Falls Church, Virginia

The
most important thing I learned is that I don't need a huge block of
time to make art! I've decided to carve out at least 30 minutes a
day. I also found it valuable to know it's O. K. to just forge ahead.
It's O. K. to fail, just do it and keep going. It was incredibly motivating
too to be surrounded the art and architecture of Florence. Janette Danielson, Art Teacher, Beaufort Academy, Beaufort, South Carolina
I
attended with professional goals in mind, both
for myself and the
children that I teach, and I was very pleased with what I got. I can
also appropriate many things for myself on a purely personal level. I

I can adapt them for use with children. I much enjoyed hearing the stories

my entire experience was. The workshop, the professor, the participants

I took the workshop in Florence. What a beautiful city. I would assign
a grade of "A" to the entire production. Jill Mendelson, Development/Alumni Director, Westminster School, Annandale,

Shelley
and Alejandro are fabulous teachers. They bring back the inner
curiosity and creativity that you once had as a child. They made me remember
that it is okay to be imaginative at all times and that thinking outside
the box is really what makes the world go round. And what better place
to experience creativity, curiosity and imagination then in Brugges? Gretchen Powers, Central Bucks School District,Tamanend Middle School

If
you want to be pushed to the very edge of your creative limits, then
this workshop will deliver. The Creativity Workshop ranks easily with

up with an exciting idea for children's books with another participant,
and had the opportunity to share and get feedback. Prague was an incredible
backdrop for the workshop. Ronda Goodale, Teacher, Boston Public Schools, MA

I
am so glad my husband and I took the time to do this. My teaching
career requires me to move from topic to topic at breakneck speed, so

I
was learning and actively participating in exciting creativity projects
during the day, and experiencing the culture of another country
in the evening. I met and collaborated with wonderful people from all
over the world who share my ideals and love of incorporating the arts
into the classroom, and was able to begin to find my own creative voice
as an educator and a writer. My Fund For Teachers fellowship in Crete
has influenced my classroom in that I am more aware of the importance
of listening to and connecting with my students. I would like to mirror
the climate of the learning environment that I experienced in the Creativity
Workshop by creating a safe, positive, and respectful classroom to
ensure that my students can share their verbal and written ideas freely
and take risks, without fear of failure or ridicule. Mary Theresa Green, Actress and Drama Teacher,
Fund for Teachers Fellow. Lincoln, Nebraska

I
worked harder in this workshop and had more fun and felt more fulfilled
than with any other professional development I have ever taken. I learned
how to let go of my imagination, capture their stream of images, and
develop really interesting poems. I had no idea that I could write this
well. The Workshop gave me the freedom to find what was best for me.
I have been able to retain that stream of creativity since returning
home because of the enthusiastic support of both instructors. Jan Little, Brentwood High School, Nashville, TN
It
was wonderful to meet people from around the world and share our

I do believe that the newness of ones surroundings is playing a magical
role in my own perception of creativity. Lanette Breedt, Artist and Teacher, Gauteng, South Africa
The
workshop was full of people from many different professions, and despite
the myriad experiences we brought with us, each of us was able to work
toward the same goal of finding new ways to express our creativity. This
is an experience that I would recommend to anyone who is looking to make
a fresh start in the way they approach their work. Andrew LaRaia, Teacher, Lincoln School, Istanbul,
